Disease ecology is a rapidly growing discipline that offers new approaches and insights for understanding emergent biological threats to natural populations and communities. Researchers at OSU are examining issues at the interface between disease and conservation such as Sudden Oak Death, an emerging, devastating disease of West Coast oaks, Barley Yellow Dwarf virus in native West Coast grassland communities, rust fungi in forest trees, parasites and diseases of freshwater and marine fishes, and amphibian diseases.
